Which room should I install end vent windows in?
Since these are a type of side sliding window, they can be used in many of the same situations. They are very easy to operate and the moveable sashes can be cleaned from the inside of your home. The advantage of end vent windows is that they have a fixed picture window in the centre, which allows them to be manufactured in larger sizes than standard side sliding windows.
How do I clean end vent windows?
With the window in the closed position, spray one sash at a time with glass cleaner and wipe dry. Unlock the window and open both ends of the window approximately 3–4 inches. Squeeze the tilting mechanisms of one sash together and gently pull the sash toward you — the window should swing in. Spray the outside of the glass with glass cleaner and wipe dry. Swing the sash back into place and gently push to engage the tilt latch. Repeat with the other sash. When complete, close the windows and engage the locks.
Can I install end vent windows in the basement?
Yes! Basements are a great place to install end vent windows. They can be manufactured in larger sizes than traditional side sliding windows but are just as easy to operate. They are perfect for brightening dark spaces because they allow natural light to flow into the room and are a great choice when you want to increase ventilation.
