Casement Windows

Casement windows suit most living areas of the home. They’re very easy to operate and can be customized with different design options. This style offers both clean lines and unobstructed views and uses a multi-point locking system to increase its energy efficiency and security. This easy- operating style opens with a crank handle at the base, eliminating the need for lifting and pulling. Their easy operation makes them a great choice for hard-to-reach places, like above countertops and behind furniture. Their ability to open to nearly a full 90° angle allows for great ventilation, which is especially beneficial in the summertime to let a nice breeze into your home or to bring fresh air into your home during spring cleaning. These replacement windows are often combined with other casement and fixed styles to create bay, bow, or large feature windows.

We want to thank Centennial for the work they did on our home. We ordered four basement windows and two door systems from Centennial and we can’t believe how much this transformed our home. The basement is so much brighter, and I know the family room will be warm and energy efficient this winter. We chose a woodgrain fibreglass door for the front of our home and it looks fantastic! It looks like real wood. Our back door is a steel door with a storm door and it works great coming in and out of the house all the time. We were extremely pleased with the installers. Their skills and cleanliness were very professional. Centennial would be recommended by us to anyone!

Where is the hinge on a casement window?

This style hinges open along the side. You’ll be able to identify the hinge side by locating the locking mechanism; the window will hinge on the side opposite the lock. The casement hinge is a heavy-duty, metal support arm that attaches to the bottom of the casement sash, as well as the crank system.

Do casement windows have screens?

Yes. They come with a removable screen. Our heavy-duty screens help to keep insects out of your home while you have your replacement window open and offer an unobstructed view.

Are casement windows better than double-hung windows?

When deciding between different styles, be sure to take into consideration the aesthetic of your home. With that in mind, there are several advantages of choosing casement windows. With the exception of fixed windows, they offer the highest energy efficiency ratings and are the most airtight. Additionally, in many cases, they’re easier to operate because they use a crank handle and don’t require any lifting or pulling.
