Bow Windows

Bow windows transform the entire look and feel of your home, projecting out from the exterior wall and forming an eye-catching curve. Constructed with four or more windows, this style provides great ventilation and allows a lot of natural light to come into the home. They create a unique look on the outside of your home and a cozy nook on the inside. These windows provide an excellent view of the outdoors and the deep sill is perfect as a display area for decorations or family photos. Centennial’s bow windows are not only beautiful, but are also energy efficient, saving you money on your heating and cooling costs. Popularly used in master bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms, the elegant arches of this style add a luxurious and refined look to your home.

Several years ago we replaced a bow window with Centennial, and we have been very happy with them. We have noticed a big change in our heating and cooling bills. They are not only easy to clean, but quieter as well. We recently decided to change our front door and once more, we went to Centennial. We couldn’t be happier. Not only can we not see through the edges of the door, but the curtains in the house aren’t blowing around either. Also, the installers were absolutely excellent, and even cleaned up after themselves. We will not hesitate to recommend Centennial to our friends.

FAQs

Can I install a bow window in any room in my house?

This style is a beautiful addition to any home, however, there are limitations to where they can be installed because they project out from the exterior wall of your home. If you are looking to install a new bow window where one does not currently exist, you must make sure that you have adequate clearance on the outside of your home for the unit’s support system. If you already have one in your home, there shouldn’t be any problems upgrading it to a newer, more energy efficient model.

Do bow windows have screens?

Traditionally manufactured from a combination of fixed and operational styles, any operational styles used will have screens. Casement screens are on the inside of your home, and double hung screens are on the outside. Whichever style you choose, you can easily remove the screens from the inside of your home for cleaning.

How big should a bow window be?

Two considerations when determining the size are the number of windows — the minimum being four — that you would like in the opening, and their styles. Also, the styles you choose will have minimum size requirements, so be sure to book and in-home consultation to ensure that these specifications are being taken into consideration.

What is the difference between bow and bay windows?

Bow windows are made of four or more windows that are most often a combination of fixed and operational styles. They form a slight curve as they project away from the exterior wall of the home. Bay windows are constructed from three windows — usually a fixed style in the centre with operational ones on either side. With standard construction, they come together to form two 45⁰ angles.
